性狀：白色結晶性粉末。水中溶解度在13℃時為2.26%，在熱水中溶解度較大。當水溶液在80℃時逐漸分解產生氨氣。無水乙醇(C2H5OH)、乙醚中溶解度在13℃時，分別為1.26%和0.01%。溶于液氨、熱水、乙醇、丙酮水合物、二甲基甲酰胺，難溶于乙醚，不溶于苯和氯仿。相對密度(d254)1.40。熔點209.5℃。干燥時性質穩定。不燃燒。低毒，半數致死量(小鼠，經口)>4000mg/kg。空氣中最高容許濃度5mg/m3。

按規格使用和貯存,不會發生分解,避免與氧化物接觸。在13℃無水乙醇中溶解度為1.26%,水中為2.26%。易溶于熱水,水溶液在80℃以上時會慢慢分解產生氨。將雙氰胺的結晶加熱到熔點時,熔融后立即劇烈發熱,,生成三聚氰胺、密胺等。
制備編輯
氰氨化鈣水解所得的氰氨氫鈣懸浮液，經減壓過濾除去氫氧化鈣濾渣，再向濾液通入二氧化碳以將鈣以碳酸鈣的形式沉淀出來，得到氨基氰液。使其在堿性條件下聚合，再經過濾、冷卻結晶、分離、干燥，得二聚氰胺。
生成雙氰胺最大速度時的溫度與pH有關：50℃時pH為9.7；80℃時pH為9.1；100℃時pH為8.8。控制在這些條件下聚合后，再經冷卻結晶、分離、干燥，即得成品雙氰胺。工業品雙氰胺含量99%，每噸產品消耗石灰氮（含氮21%以上）4239kg。 [1]
